Religious Education

In R.E we have been learning about "Who is God?". 
We have been learning about what God is like and 
we also did an acrostic poem about him. We also 
learned about the Good Samaritan and we also did
 "The stages of centering prayer," We also did some
 things on the Assumption. I have really enjoyed
 these particular sessions in R.E.

Shrove Tuesday

Today is Shrove Tuesday.  This Morning we burnt palms and now, in the afternoon we are making Pancakes as a class with Room 1.  All the Juniors took turns mixing the batter and now the teachers are cooking the pancakes.  They smell so delicious!  Everyone can't wait to eat some!  Right now at 2:20 the little kids are filling in a work sheet and the Seniors are doing a blog posts.  The Seniors help the Juniors with their work sheets.  Shrove Tuesday was really fun!

Lent

Today, in Religious Education we brainstormed
 words or quotes about lent.  We came up with 
lots of ideas and then we had to copy them all 
into our book.  We had to decorate our work 
neatly and have lots of colour because our R.E
 books need to have good presentation. On 
Tuesday we also learnt about Faith, Hope and
 love. Here is what my book looks like:

Our focus this term in Religious Education was the Communion of Saints. We learnt about the three parts of the Communion of Saints and how we are all connected. The Communion of Saints is bonded through prayer, baptism and the Eucharist.

As part of our studies we researched and created a slide show that explored a live of a Saint.

Year 5 retreat

 All the Year 5's went on Retreat, We 
did prayers treasure hunts and my 
favorite activity leaf matching!  
Leaf matching is when we were put
 with a buddy and we were given a 
leaf and we had to find a matching 
leaf and the tree it came from.

Ascension

In Religious Education we learnt about the Ascension  of Jesus.  At  Galilee Jesus told his disciples to take his Gospel to the whole world.  He promised to send the Holy Spirit to be with us always and then he returned, In glory to his father in heaven.

We used crafts to show how Jesus went body and soul to heaven.
