Sun Smart

This week we learnt about Sun Safety. We watched a video of somebody
who had skin cancer. They talk about what happened to them and what it
was like. It was really interesting. We all got into groups and made Sun
smart posters. My group's poster was set on the beach with the hot hot
sun in the sky and two people.  One person was sitting under an umbrella
with a bottle of sunscreen. The other person had NO umbrella and
NO sunscreen. We drew the second person's skin completely red! It was
 super fun making the poster.

Healthy drinking poster

A few weeks ago me and one of my friends made a healthy
drinking poster in health.  We wrote amounts of sugar
in some unhealthy drinks and then on the other side we
wrote down how much sugar was in healthy drinks like
water and healthy all fruit smoothies.

Seed Crackers

Seed crackers
In Room Six we have been learning about how we can stay healthy and
have a well balanced diet.  For a healthy class treat we made seed crackers.
Here is our recipe

Ingredients:
½ cup Sunflower seeds
½ cup Pumpkin seeds
¼ cup Sesame seeds
¼ cup Poppy seeds
¼ cup Linseed/flaxseed seeds
¼ cup chia seeds
½ tsp sea salt
1 cup water
1 sprinkle of flaky sea salt, to sprinkle

Directions:
Heat oven to 170C. Place all the seeds and the salt in a bowl, pour in water
and mix to combine. Leave for 15 minutes for the chia and flax seeds to soften
and bind everything together.  Tip out onto a baking paper-lined oven tray and
spread out as thin as possible (around 4mm thick) and sprinkle with some flaky
sea salt. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove the tray from the oven and slice into
crackers, then return to the oven to cook for another 20-30 minutes until crisp
and golden. Remove to a rack to cool then store in an airtight container.
Now your crackers are ready to eat.
On the last week of school we are going to be having a Healthy Food Party -
Veggie Con on Monday the 2nd July, everybody will bring healthy food for
us to eat as a shared lunch.

Check out our blogs for family favourites or healthy recipes we searched.
