A Diorama Of London

As you know I have done a blog on what a passport
task is so if you dont understand go and read that!
A few days ago I finished a Diorama of London.  It
was extremely fun to make and plan.  In my
Diorama I made a paper big ben and a park bench
and a person in the rain.  For the Diorama you could
make it look like anywhere. Some people did the
beach, underwater, Australia, Paris, Bakery and so many
more possibilities.  It was so fun.  Here is a picture of my Diorama!

3D Shapes

In Maths we have been learning about 3D shapes.  Today we made some 3D shapes. I made a 3D cube and a rectangular prism.  The way we made them was we got a shape net. We then cut along the sides and then folded all the lines and glued it all together.  I even made my cube into a dice! It was really fun but also a bit difficult.
This is what a shape net and my 3D shapes look like!

Passport Tasks

This Term we have started our passport tasks. We do
them every year in Term 4. A passport task is when
we get a sheet of paper and there are a bunch of
different activities. Each activity earns you a certain
number of points, but, your teacher can add or
deduct points due to the standard of your work. All
the activities are in a column that earns you a
number of points. Different activities can earn you
 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60 points. I’m really excited
 to do the Passport tasks!

Product for the Fair!

This year is the school fair! The fair is once every 2 years.
This year we all got into groups in our class and now we
have to make a product to sell at the fair. My group are
making bookmarks! On each bookmark we are going to
do a theme and colour it in. The themes are all gonna be
different so they appeal to different genders and ages. We
are gonna sell 2 bookmarks in a pack and tie them
together with a ribbon. Right now we are only planning
our product. I'm so excited for when we get to make the
 real bookmarks!

For the past few weeks we have been doing instructional writing.  We have all done a recipe on something. My Recipe was on Mashed Potato cake.  Here is my Mashed Potato cake Recipe!

How to make a Revolting cakeThings you will need:1 baking Pan1 pot1 knife1 baking bowl

Equipment you will need:12 potatoes1 cup of milk½ a cup of flour1 teaspoon of baking powder1 bag of marshmallowsFondant1 bag of skittlesGreen dyeIcing sugarhot watercocoa

Method1. First you need to peel the potatoes and chop them into  thirds.  2.  Put them in a large pot and boil until soft.  3.   Once they are soft place them in a baking bowl and mash them up and add your milk.  4.  Mix for 5 minutes and then add your flour, baking powder, and green dye.  5.  Mix until the dye is evenly spread. Grease a baking pan and put your batter in.  Let it set in the fridge for 1 hour till it has moulded into a cake shape.  6.  Once you take your cake out of the pan, it's time to start the icing.  Put your hot water, icing sugar, and cocoa into a bowl. This week was Book Week! One of the best weeks
of the school year! Today is the last day of book
week!  There were so many activities to do!  I even
won a book cover competition.  You had to design a
NEW book cover for one of your favourite books.
I made a Ruby Redfort book cover.  Ruby Redfort
was written by Lauren Child.  My prize for winning
was $10.00 to spend at our book fair.  The book fair

Maths Co-ordinates

In Room 5 for maths we have been learning
about co-ordinates.  We all got the exact same
sheet for the co-ordinates. It was a bit difficult
at first but as I went on it became easier and
easier!  It was very fun and the picture on our
sheet was a a panda doing the floss!  When we
finished our first co-ordinate sheet we got a
new one that had decimals. I'm still working
on my decimal one know!  The decimal one
I got is a dabbing pug.

My Book Review

In Room 5 for Book Week we had to write a book review.  I wrote a review on the Ruby Redfort series.  The author is the well-known Lauren Child.  Here is what my book review ended up like:

This is what Ruby Redfort was about.  Ruby Redfort was a 13 year old girl who got recruited as a code cracker for a secret agency called Spectrum.  Ruby has to solve a lot of codes and mysteries that end up putting her into great danger every time.  I highly recommend this book.

Water filter experiments

In Room 5 we have been learning about water safety.
We had to do an experiment with one other person
and try to create a water filter out of any 4 materials.
These were our options: Cotton balls, Sand, Paper
towels, and Bark. Me and Kayano used Cotton balls
and paper towels. What you had to do was have two
containers one with a hole on the bottom and one
with no holes. You had to place the one with the
hole on top of the other one. Then you had to put in
your chosen materials and then pour water on the
materials. The water had Cooking oil,Paper, and
Compost in side. Me and Kayano's filter worked
OK. All the bits didn't go through but our end
result was a bit yellow. I really enjoyed doing
this experiment.

Country posters

In Room 5, we have all been making country posters. My country was
Spain, I had to research lots of facts about Spain and then make a
poster.  There were lots of countries to choose from. It took a while to
get them finished but the end result was great! I'm very proud of my
country poster and I think I put a lot of effort in.  The most difficult part
was colouring in the Spanish flag because there were so many little
details. I really enjoyed making the posters and researching lots of
interesting facts!

This is my Poster:

Tabloid Sports

Today we did Tabloid Sports. Since I am a House Captain I had to do a event. My event was a obstacle course. I did my event on the turf and set up cones. They had to Hop to a cone and then switch legs and hop to the next cone. Once they got to the end they had to
do 5 jumps and then 5 spins, then run all the way back. Tabloid Sports was really fun and I am glad i got to do an event.  It was my last ever Tabloid Sports.

Growth Mindset quotes

If If Doesn’t
Challenge You,
It Won’t Change

You!
I chose this quote because if you don't challenge
yourself then you won't be learning anything new
and it won't change the way you think about things.

Lent

Today, in Religious Education we brainstormed
words or quotes about lent.  We came up with
lots of ideas and then we had to copy them all
into our book.  We had to decorate our work
neatly and have lots of colour because our R.E
books need to have good presentation. On
Tuesday we also learnt about Faith, Hope and
love. Here is what my book looks like:

Sun Smart

This week we learnt about Sun Safety. We watched a video of somebody
who had skin cancer. They talk about what happened to them and what it
was like. It was really interesting. We all got into groups and made Sun
smart posters. My group's poster was set on the beach with the hot hot
sun in the sky and two people.  One person was sitting under an umbrella
with a bottle of sunscreen. The other person had NO umbrella and
NO sunscreen. We drew the second person's skin completely red! It was
 super fun making the poster.

Back to school

In Room 5 we have done lots of different
activities through out the week and these
are a few things we have done.  We all
decorated a piece of paper that looked
like a puzzle piece. We had to write our
name in BOLD letters and draw a few
pictures of what we like doing our
favourite food and our favourite animal.
It was really fun and I enjoyed
decorating it the most.  We also made
dragon masks and coloured them in for
Luna new year. You could either do a
mask or a lantern, I made a mask and I
used lots of bright colours and It looks
really good.  We did a back to school mad
Libs worksheet. These are the questions
we had to answer:  Emotion, Famous
Female, 2 Number, 2 Noun (thing),
2 Food, Famous land form, 2 adjectives,
colour and verb ending in-ing.  Then we
put all our answers into a story and it was
really fun!  This week has been great!

Camp

Camp was so much fun and I think it’s safe to say that mostly everyone did
not want to leave. We did so many cool activities it’s hard to keep track of
them all! Here are a few of the Activities: Mountain biking, Surf Kayaking,
Sailing, Snorkelling, Abe sailing, rock climbing, Archery, Giants ladder,
Stack em, and Dinghy games. My legs got completely covered in bruises!
We stayed at camp for 4 nights and 5 days. We had to cover ourselves in
loads of sunscreen because it was so hot! On the last day at camp we
went into the rock pools on the beach and saw so much marine life, it was
so cool! We also had ice blocks while the teachers told us what car we
were going back to school in. I was sad to leave camp but happy to see
my family again.
